"Education as the Gateway to Women's Economic Security"
<<
Judy Murphy thanks
Dot Rand for serving
as state president for
four years.
Jennifer Kern presents
a gift from all of us
to Dot Rand.                 >>

Kathy Corrao presents the slate of officers for election. (We almost forgot to elect them.)
Our special guest, Martina Ochiel from Kenya with Madeline Kennedy.

Martina spoke to us at the pot luck supper about her childhood struggle to obtain an education rather than marry an old man at the age of 12.

Madeline deserves a special thank you for finding beds for all of our overnight guests.
Professor Chyi-lye Liang from UVM informed and entertained us with her speech about the discrimination she faced in Taiwan and her research on women farmers. She has received a publication grant from the AAUW Educational Foundation.

Cynthia Browning presented
an economics lesson. She explained that the investments
of a teen age girl in herself as an
enterprise are not that different
from investments in an Italian bakery.                                       >>
