AAUW Website Scavenger Hunt
AAUW has launched a new website at www.aauw.org that is much easier to navigate than the old site. To encourage Vermont members to have a look at the site and to try to find useful information on it, AAUW of Vermont is holding a scavenger hunt. All completed scavenger hunt forms will be entered in a drawing for a $100 prize. The winner’s name will be drawn during the first week of March.
Directions for Scavenger Hunt
Go to www.aauwvt.org and click the “news and new links” tab; the link to the scavenger hunt is the first link on the top. Please print the scavenger questions from the website, fill in the answers, and add your name and contact information on the bottom. Snail mail completed entrees to Gudrun Hutchins, 421 Barber Pond Road, Pownal VT 05261. If several members work together on one entry, include the name of all members who actively participated so that each participant has a chance of winning the prize.
You will be asked to list the URL and the “breadcrumb”.
The URL is the specific web address for the page you are looking at; it will be visible on the top of the browser window starting with http. Since many of the addresses will start with http://www.aauw.org/, that part has been filled in for you already. This is the address you would type into your browser to go directly to this page.
The breadcrumb (as in Hansel and Gretel’s breadcrumb trail) gives the navigation to the particular section of the website; for example: Home > Advocacy > Public Policy > Voter Education. It is listed near the top of the AAUW page just under the header with the faces. Both the URL and the breadcrumb give information on how this large website is organized and how to find specific items quickly.
Some of the questions will require log in to the Member Center. If you don’t remember your member ID number, use the look-up feature to log in.
